Date: 20/5/05	Date: 20/5/05 Armenians gather to protest the admission of Turkey to the European Union. About 500 persons gathered in Paris to send a message to the French President Jacque Chirac. They asked the French president to hold the negotiations of the admission of Turkey to the European Union, or else, the thousands of French Armenians will vote NO for the European Constitution on May 29. The gathering was organized by the 3 Armenian political parties: Social Democrat Hunchak Party, ARF and the Ramgavar Party .the gathering was encouraged by CCAF (Co-ordination Council of Armenian organizations of France) is the representative body of the French-Armenian Community) which is a union of major political, cultural, educational, religious and social organizations of the Armenian community. France is to hold its referendum on whether to adopt the EU constitution on May 29; all 25 members of the bloc have to ratify the basic law for it to be adopted. Less than half of the French population is expected to vote. top

The first round of Lebanese elections will take place on Sunday 29 May 2005 in Beirut electorate. The candidates that already won even before elections took place are.. Dr Yeghia Djeredjian .. Armenian Orthodox and Member of Social Democrat Hunchakian Party Central Committee Serge Tursarkisian..... Armenian Catholic Jean Oghasabian....... Armenian Orthodox Hagop Kassarjian...... Armenian Orthodox amd member of Armenian Liberal Party (Ramgavar) central Committee All the above MPs are member of Hariri's Future Movement Block. Armenian Community enjoy 6 seats in Lebanese Parliament. The other two seats are one in Metn and another in Bekkaa Valley. top
